About the awards
Technique, fitness, discipline
At Winchester Boxing Club we deliver the GB National Boxing Awards. The awards recognise technique, fitness, discipline and ring craft at every stage.
The first three awards (Preliminary, Standard and Bronze) are all non-contact and can be used in clubs for new members and any non-specialist facility like community halls or school gyms. Non-contact parts can be taught by standalone GB boxing tutors, including school teachers, youth workers and development officers.
The remaining three awards (Silver, Gold and Platinum) involve technique development in modified sparring and must be coached in a club with a ring and a qualified boxing coach. The Platinum Award takes the boxer into a ring with a skills bout, showing the skills, fitness and ability built across all six awards.

The pathway
Six awards. Clear progress.

Standard
Non-contact
Builds on the Preliminary Award with further technique and partner work, plus knowledge of boxing fundamentals and fitness.

Bronze
Non-contact
Develops technique, partner drills and conditioning. Ideal for boxers progressing toward contact work.

Silver
Club / sparring
Introduces modified sparring under qualified coaches. Technique development with protective equipment in a controlled club environment.
05
Gold
Club / sparring
Advanced shadow boxing, sparring and conditioning for boxers who have completed Silver, including knowledge of the rules of boxing.

Platinum
Skills bout
The final award. A skills bout testing everything learnt across the pathway. Candidates must have completed and passed a full boxing medical.
